1. This agreement
These terms are between you and PiHive Technologies (“we”, “us”), and govern your use of the TutorMa application and this website. By creating an account or using the service, you accept them. If you do not accept them, please do not use the service.
Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal data and forms part of this agreement.
2. Who may use it
- You must be at least 18 and the parent or legal guardian of every child whose profile you create.
- Children use the service through a session you set up and hand over. They do not hold their own account.
- You are responsible for supervising your child's use to the extent appropriate for their age, and for deciding when a session should happen.
3. Your account
Your mobile number identifies your account. Keep access to it secure, and tell us promptly at sridevi@pihivetech.com if you believe someone else has got into your account. You are responsible for activity that takes place under it.
Give us accurate information about your child's class, board and language. The tutor teaches based on what you tell it, so wrong details produce wrong teaching.
4. Material you upload
You keep ownership of everything you upload. You grant us a limited, non-exclusive licence to store, process, display and adapt it strictly in order to provide the service to your family — reading the pages, planning the session, teaching from them, and producing your reports. That licence ends when you delete the material or close your account.
You confirm that:
- you have the right to upload what you upload, and that photographing pages of your child's own books and notebooks for their personal study is permitted where you are;
- you will not upload material that is unlawful, or that contains other people's personal information without a good reason;
- you understand your uploads stay within your family account and are not published, shared with other families, or offered to anyone else.
5. Acceptable use
Please do not:
- use the service to produce work that is passed off as a child's own unaided work where that would breach a school's rules;
- attempt to break, overload, reverse-engineer or circumvent limits on the service;
- use it to build or train a competing product, or scrape it at scale;
- share one account across families, or resell access;
- upload malware, or anything abusive, hateful or sexual.
6. What the service is not
TutorMa is an aid to study. It is not a school, a tutor of record, an examination authority, or a substitute for a teacher, and it is not a childcare or supervision service — a responsible adult should remain contactable while a child is using it.
The tutor is built on AI models. Despite being grounded in the material you upload, it can misread a page, explain something imperfectly, or assess an answer wrongly. You should review the reports and treat the teaching as you would a helpful but fallible tutor. We do not promise any particular academic result, mark, or improvement.
It is not for emergencies. If a child is at risk or in distress, contact the appropriate services or a responsible adult.
7. Availability and early access
The service is currently in early access. Features may change, break, or be withdrawn while we build it, and sessions depend on your device, microphone, camera and internet connection. We aim to keep it available but do not guarantee uninterrupted service.
8. Fees
TutorMa is provided free of charge during early access. If we introduce charges, we will tell you in advance and you will be able to decide whether to continue before anything is payable. Billing, refund and cancellation terms will be published here at that point.
9. Our intellectual property
The application, this website, our name, logo, designs and the software behind the tutor belong to PiHive Technologies. Nothing in these terms transfers any of that to you beyond the right to use the service as described.
10. Suspension and ending the agreement
You may stop using TutorMa and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end access if you materially breach these terms, if we are required to by law, or if we discontinue the service — in which case we will give reasonable notice and an opportunity to export or delete your data.
11. Disclaimers and liability
To the extent permitted by law, the service is provided “as is” and we exclude implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.
We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of academic opportunity, marks or results. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. Subject to that, our total liability arising out of the service is limited to the greater of the amount you have paid us in the twelve months before the claim and ₹5,000.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts at Chennai, India will have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute. Please write to us first — most things are faster to fix by email.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the product develops. We will change the date at the top of this page, and give you notice in the app before any material change takes effect. Continuing to use the service after that means you accept the updated terms.
